The NASeA /ANMA joint convention planning meeting was successfully completed on April 7, 2007 with more than twenty participants. The meeting began with recognizing Dr. Grija Gautum and Mrs. Kaplila Gautum for hosting the joint meeting and their warm welcome to the participants.

During the meeting, several key tasks for success of the upcoming joint convention were discussed. A detail meeting minutes are under preparation and will be sent to you soon by our G. Secretary Tek Thapa. I have highlighted below some of the important notes for your quick information.

Among the several themes suggested for the conventions, a theme “ Bringing Nepali Diaspora Closer” as suggested by Dr. Bal Sharma was selected by majority of the participants.
The meeting welcomed Nepali organizations in the USA (mainly NAC, ANA, PAC, APAC, NCNC, FNA, ANTA, NPPA, and Atlanta Youth Association) to participate the joint convention as co-sponsors.
The meeting recognized following sessions to be included in the joint convention: NAC/NRN, PAC, Women’s Development, Youth Development, Transfer of Technology, Cultural and Religious Development, Immigration and Entrepreneurship Proposition, Democratic Platform in Nepal, and Poetry and Literature.
The meeting insisted to invite students to volunteer the convention programs and to provide free hotel rooms to them. More than 60% of the participants donated one room night for the purposes. However, the donation of hotel room is not limited to the participants only. All members are cordially requested to donate rooms for student volunteers. If you are interested, please contact Tek Thapa (thapa_atl@yahoo.com) and Samir Upadhyay (samir@kpucomputers.com).
Every moment was joyful during the joint meeting period. A reception dinner was hosted by Dr. Samanta Thapa and Mrs. Rashami Thapa on April 6, 2007; and a banquet was hosted by Dr. Grija Gautum and Mrs. Kaplila Gautum following the meeting. Friendly gathering with delicious food (Yummy!) was very motivational and entertaining. We all felt very honor of their hospitality. I think those of you who could not attend the meeting missed “a good part” of this year. I hope you would not miss following exciting upcoming events of this year:

Happy New Year 2064 BS in Atlanta on April 21, 2007

You can also get above information by visiting www.naseaonline.com.

Last but not least, I would like to thank all the participants for their enthusiasm to attend the joint meeting and for their valuable inputs. I would also like to extend my thanks to y'all for support and cooperation.

With Cheers!
Narayan Rajbhandari, Ph.D.
President, NASeA.
