RE: NASeA Special Election 2009 on April 24, 2010 (5:00 - 8:00 PM)

Dear NASeA Community,

Happy New Year 2067!

Welcome to the special election of NASeA 2009. After all considerations, we have decided to have a special election on April 24th, 2010. To make this election convenient and cohesive for our Nepalese community, we are utilizing the historical time of NASeA/NAG joint celebration of Nepalese New Year 2067 (NASeA/NAG MOU).

Please visit the following URL to nominate candidate or accept/decline candidacy
http://nasea.bsmsoft.net/

The core basis of this election in terms of rules and regulations is our NASeA bylaws. We must comply by the NASeA bylaws first, and then the local, state and federal laws.

We have completed the online process for nomination and acceptance of candidacy for this special election. The following will be the rules and procedures for this special election:

  1. Any NASeA member registered in the 2009 Convention or a life member can nominate a candidate for NASeA executive body member; also a candidate can nominate oneself.
  2. Any individual who becomes member/life member prior to or on-site on April 24, 2010 will be eligible to vote. The membership fees are:
    Single: $15.00
    Student: $7.00
    Life: $200.00
  3. A candidate must be nominated prior to 11:59 PM (EST) by April 19, 2010. The nomination process will be completed only after the nominated candidate accepts or declines the position. A candidate cannot accept more than one position. The nomination and acceptance process will be valid until the deadline described above.
  4. After he/she accepts the position, the online election process shall automatically reply by e-mail to the candidate indicating “Welcome to the NASeA Special Election – Thank you for your support to NASeA. Congratulation! You are a candidate for …… …”.
  5. Immediately after 12:00 AM on April 21, the tentative list of candidates will be generated and emailed to all candidates as well as to the Ad Hoc Committee.
  6. Any candidate can withdraw his/her name from the position prior to 11:59 PM (EST) on April 21, 2010.
  7. After the 24 hour review period, by 11:59 PM (EST), on April 22, 2010, a final list of candidates will be generated and emailed to all NASeA members.
  8. If nomination and acceptance for a position is not filled by the deadline, such position will remain vacant.
  9. There will be a mandatory session for introduction of all candidates (3:00 - 4:30 PM, on April 24, 2010), and all candidates shall attend this meeting to express their visions and plans for NASeA. In any unusual and unexpected circumstances, a candidate who cannot attend this meeting may contact the Ad Hoc Committee to express his/her views during this time through another means of communication on his/her behalf.
  10. On Election Day, April 24, 2010, campaigning will not be allowed in the designated area for voting.
  11. The Ad Hoc Committee will announce the names of the elected executive body during the culture program. The Committee will congratulate the newly elected executive body, and conduct an oath of office. Previous executive body will also be present and hand over NASeA official records to the newly elected executive body in presence of the NASeA General Body. This will conclude the NASeA Special Election 2009.

At this juncture, we request all our NASeA members to help in making this upcoming special election of NASeA on April 24th, 2010 successful by exercising their rights to vote. Please remember, your vote is very critical in electing our community leaders who could bring positive changes in our community.

Thank you for remaining in unison.

Respectfully,
Ad Hoc Committee, NASeA
