The goal of the Atlanta Nepali Cultural Center (ANCC) is to promote Nepalese culture and heritage in the Nepalese community in Atlanta. School curriculum includes instruction in reading, writing, and verbal communication in Nepali as well as cultural education for all ages. We believe that improving our community’s knowledge and understanding of Nepali culture will help to keep our customs and traditions alive and help us to evolve as a distinct community in the US.
The School will be run by a dedicated and committed group of eleven volunteer teachers.
This is the second year we are extending our classes until MAY. We have Summer off. In the future we are planning to have Spring and Fall Semesters.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why attend the Nepali School?
As Nepali expatriates in Atlanta, many of us have recognized a need
for our children to connect to their roots and culture. At the Nepali
School we will focus on education that will impart to our children a
greater knowledge and appreciation of their cultural heritage and language.
What is the school schedule?
Initially, the school will operate only on Sundays. Beginning Classes
will be scheduled for 45 minutes. Following each class, there will be
presentation about Nepalese festivals and culture, snacks and refreshments.
We will end the day with dance lessons for the children.
What is the nature of the course
and the curriculum?
Our main goal is teaching the kids to read and write the Nepali language.
However, we will have a balanced mix of lectures, discussions, short
assignments, and fun activities like dance & music, traditional
games, learning rhymes, etc. In the future, depending on demand and
availability of volunteer teachers, we will greatly expand our curriculum
to add special additional classes on religion & rituals, traditional
Nepali cooking, Nepali musical instruments, etc.
What type of classes do
you have?
We have the following categories of classes:
• Levels 1 - 4 (to be determined after interviewing the children)
• Adult (beginner and intermediate).

What
is the cost?
In order to pay for the rental facilities and classroom material we
are currently charging a minimum amount of $10 per child per month.
We greatly appreciate any donations towards buying school supplies.
In kind donations like snacks, party supplies, school supplies, etc.,
are also appreciated. Dance lessons will be $20 per child/adult per
month.
Will snacks and refreshments be
provided to the kids?
We would definitely like to provide refreshments. But please note that
our minimum fee of $10 per child per month will not cover this cost.
However, since this is a community effort, we plan on parents volunteering
each week for snack duty. Or we can pool money and a volunteer can buy
snacks each week. We can discuss these issues when the school session
starts.
Is there a place for parents to stay while the classes are in session?
Sure, you can stay at the facility and volunteer to help with the classes.
Think of this as a great opportunity to socialize and make new friends.
Depending on interest, we will be organizing picnics, potlucks, grocery
shopping trips, field trips (zoo, aquarium, museums, fairs, etc.) for
the parents and the kids.
Who do I contact if I need more information?
For more information, contact Srijana Sharma, Ph: 404-639-2188, e-mail:

Where is the school located?
The school is located at 3760 Park Avenue, Doraville, right next to
the Doraville Police Station and across the road from Doraville City
Hall & Court House. In our initial registration day meeting, we
can talk about these issues; perhaps parents and/or volunteer can arrange
to carpool.
